BP2_Edmodo

Edmodo is the Web 2.0 tool I decided to try. I know that several academic teachers have been using Edmodo for about a year. I thought I would use Edmodo in my Carpentry class as a way of posting project assignments and discussion question. Students will have access to the class to see assignments and post to the discussion questions. With Edmodo I can give detailed descriptions of assignments and the due date. Students will post their assignments and I will be able to grade their assignments and also post comments on how well the performed.
The first project I will try with Edmodo will be a group project building a doghouse. The students are required to find a doghouse plan and submit it for approval. They have to estimate the material cost and the sale price. The plan, estimated material cost and the final sale price have to be submitted through Edmodo and I will provide final approval before the project can be started. I will have detailed descriptions of each step of the project for students to follow. A daily inventory of materials used will be posted to make sure each group is managing the project and staying within their budget. I will post comments on each groups progress and answer any questions. I will post due dates for each step of the project to make sure students are on track to complete their project by the due date. Students will be able to see a timeline and know what has to be completed each day to stay on track. They will also be able to track their materials each day and have a record of the actual cost of the project.
